Obituary: Nadine Faye Abeldt
Nadine Faye Abeldt of Abilene, Kan., 61, passed away Oct. 30, 2009. She was born March 8, 1948, in Belleville, the daughter of Glenn and Louise (Makalous) Benyshek. She graduated from Cuba High School with the class of 1966 and attended Bethany College, graduating with a degree in education and music.
On Aug. 14, 1971, she was united in marriage to Larry Abeldt. She was a full-time farmer, enjoyed delivering meals to the field and helping in the lambing barn. While a member of the Rose Bank Church, she played the organ and piano for 30 years. She attended the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, actively participating in the Lifters Sunday school class. She was a member of the Tri-County Fair Board and Kansas Sheep Auxiliary. She was a dedicated 4-H leader for 22 years and enjoyed helping her sons and other youth in the area with their projects. She loved watching her sons show livestock at the local fairs and other shows. She was also an avid Chapman football fan, only missing three games all the years her boys played football.
